Dental Implant Surgery in Katy, TX

Implant Placement

The surgical half: a titanium post into the jawbone, under anaesthetic or sedation. The crown that goes on it comes months later, once the bone has grown around it.

Is this you

One tooth, several, or all of them.

The three configurations the practice places. How many implants you need is not the same as how many teeth you are missing.

01

A single tooth

One implant and one crown. The teeth either side are left completely alone, which a bridge cannot do.

02

Several teeth

An implant-supported bridge spanning the gap, anchored on implants rather than on natural teeth.

03

A whole arch

All‑on‑4®: an entire arch of teeth on four strategically placed implants. Four posts, not sixteen.

And what the post itself is doing

  • Replaces the rootA small titanium post inserted into the jawbone, serving as an artificial tooth root.
  • Carries the restorationA stable foundation for a crown, a bridge or a denture.
  • Keeps the boneIt stimulates the bone tissue, which is what stops the jaw shrinking where a tooth used to be.
  • Meant to be permanentA tooth replacement that feels natural and is designed not to be replaced.

The Treatment

What it is, and where it ends.

Placement, and then restoration

This page is the surgery: the post goes into the bone. What goes on top of it — the abutment and the crown, bridge or denture — is implant restoration, and it happens months later. Both are done here.

In the practice’s words

Dental implant placement is a surgical procedure where a small titanium post is inserted into the jawbone to serve as an artificial tooth root. It replaces missing teeth effectively, provides a stable foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures, helps maintain jawbone health by stimulating bone tissue, and offers a permanent tooth replacement that feels natural.

Whether you are missing one tooth or several, Dr. Dave Chooffers advanced solutions designed to replace missing teeth with strong, natural-looking results.

What the first visit covers

  • A welcomeA friendly team, and the time to be uneasy about surgery without being rushed.
  • AssessmentState-of-the-art diagnostics to plan the treatment, including imaging of the bone you actually have.
  • DiscussionTime to ask everything about implants before agreeing to anything.
  • Money, openlyTransparent discussion of cost and financing options at the first appointment rather than the last.

Why This One

What it does for you.

The practice’s own five. The third is the one that separates an implant from every other way of replacing a tooth.

Two of the clinical team laughing between appointments

It looks and feels like a tooth

Implants look, feel and function like your natural teeth, because they are anchored the same way.

Decades, or a lifetime

With proper care. Nothing else on this site carries that claim.

The jawbone is preserved

It prevents the bone loss that follows a missing tooth. A bridge and a denture both sit above the problem; this one addresses it.

Speech and eating

Improved speech, easier eating, and not thinking about either.

Minimal maintenance

Caring for an implant is as simple as caring for a natural tooth. No adhesives, no soaking.

Everything under one roof

From a single implant to implant-supported dentures, including the graft if you need one first.

The Path

What happens, step by step.

01

Comprehensive consultation

A thorough evaluation of whether you are a candidate at all, with digital imaging and your health history.

02

Treatment planning

Dr. Dave Cho designs the placement from your jawbone structure and your esthetic goals. Position, angle and depth, decided in advance.

03

Surgical placement

The titanium post is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic or sedation. This is the appointment people worry about, and the shortest part of the process.

04

Healing and osseointegration

Over the next few months the implant fuses with the jawbone. Nothing can hurry this, and skipping it is how implants fail.

05

Final restoration

Once healing is complete, a custom crown, bridge or denture is attached. See implant restorations.

The Alternatives

How it compares.

An implant, against a bridge.

ImplantBridge
The neighbouring teeth are untouched. They are prepared to carry crowns.
The bone is stimulated and kept. The bone under the gap keeps shrinking.
Decades, or a lifetime.Five to fifteen years.
Surgery, then months of healing.A few weeks, and no surgery.
More up front.Less up front, replaced sooner.

Dr. Dave Cho evaluates both and recommends the one that serves your long-term health, which is not always the implant. Bridges and dentures have their own pages.

What has to be true first

An implant needs something to fuse to and a mouth that will let it heal. Four things are checked before it is offered.

  • Enough boneMeasured on imaging. Where there is not enough, a graft builds it first.
  • Healthy gumsActive gum disease is treated before surgery, not after. See deep cleaning.
  • Not smokingNicotine restricts blood flow to the gums and failure rates in smokers are significantly higher.
  • TimeMonths between the post and the crown. If you need teeth for a date next month, say so at the consultation.

The Cost

What it costs, before it starts.

The practice puts cost and financing into the first appointment rather than the last, which on a treatment this size is the difference between a plan and a shock.

A patient talking with the front desk

Everyone there is very nice. They were able to see my son within a day of calling. My son had a horrible experience with an extraction as a little boy and he was nervous to have a tooth pulled again. They made him feel at ease. Afterwards he said he didn’t feel a thing.

Dr. Cho and his team are fantastic. They are thoughtful and kind. Always making sure you are okay. It’s easy to see how much they care about their patients. The attention to detail is impressive, whether it’s for invisalign or teeth whitening. Recently got dental veneers, and I’m loving the new smile.

Amy P

Very friendly staff and were willing to help in every way! Felt more comfortable here than at any other dentist office in the past, highly recommend!

Questions

Questions patients ask before they decide.

How long does the whole thing take?

The surgery itself is one appointment. Osseointegration — the implant fusing with the jawbone — takes a few months, and the final restoration follows that. The healing cannot be shortened, and trying to is how implants fail.

Is the surgery painful?

The post is placed under local anaesthetic, and sedation is available if you would rather not be present for it. Comfort is prioritised before, during and after.

What is the difference between placement and restoration?

Placement is this page: the titanium post going into the jawbone. Restoration is the abutment and the crown, bridge or denture that goes on top once the bone has fused. Both are done at this practice.

What if I do not have enough bone?

Then a bone graft comes first, and the implant is placed once that has integrated. This is common, especially where a tooth has been missing for a long time, and it is not a reason to give up on an implant.

Can I replace a whole arch?

Yes. All‑on‑4® replaces an entire arch of teeth on four strategically placed implants, rather than one implant per tooth.

How long will an implant last?

With proper care, decades or even a lifetime. Caring for one is as simple as caring for a natural tooth — brushing, flossing and regular checkups.
